Head of Design, Product Design at BitGo

The role

BitGo is seeking a player-coach design leader to transform the company into a design-forward organization while managing a senior team. This onsite role in New York involves balancing high-level business strategy with hands-on IC work across complex digital asset products. You will own the design system and mentor designers to raise the overall craft bar.

What you'll do

• Execute hands-on design work for retail mobile experiences and core surfaces
• Manage and mentor a senior design team to accelerate their professional growth
• Own the end-to-end design system including tokens patterns and governance
• Represent design in high-level strategy roadmap and architecture conversations
• Establish standardized UX processes for critique documentation and engineering handoffs
• Collaborate with engineering to navigate technical constraints and system primitives

What you'll bring

• Proven experience leading design within financial services or complex technical domains
• Demonstrated history of building and scaling design systems from the ground up
• Expert-level Figma skills with a portfolio of recent high-quality IC work
• Previous experience managing and developing senior-level product designers
• Technical literacy regarding APIs data models and engineering trade-offs

Within the first year, you will transition BitGo into a design-led organization where design is integrated into early-stage strategy rather than late-stage execution. You will establish a versioned, widely adopted design system that eliminates redundant work and ensures a coherent client experience across all flagship products. Your leadership will result in a more capable, autonomous design team that consistently ships work meeting a high standard of craft.
