The role

Turner & Townsend Heery is seeking a Design Manager to oversee medium to large school projects in Los Angeles. The role involves leading design activities for the School Upgrade Program and ensuring projects meet functional, budgetary, and legal requirements.

What you'll do

• Direct design activities for the School Upgrade Program and critical repair projects
• Manage the District design process to ensure compliance with budgetary and legal requirements
• Coordinate with architects and consultants from project conception through final review
• Oversee building design to ensure alignment with educational and building standards
• Select architectural firms based on qualifications and performance standards
• Review design changes to ensure projects remain within established budgets

What you'll bring

• Minimum ten years of professional experience managing facilities design or capital projects
• Five years of experience specifically with educational facilities or public agencies
• Bachelors degree in architecture or engineering from a recognized university
• Valid California registration as an Architect or Professional Engineer
• Experience working with the Division of the State Architect is preferred
