Senior Design Engineer, TVC at Ursa Major

The role

Ursa Major is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and qualification of solid rocket motor thrust vector control structures and mechanisms. This high-autonomy role involves owning the full design lifecycle from initial architecture to hands-on build floor integration and testing. You will help refine standards for scalable, high-rate production of reliable propulsion systems for national security.

What you'll do

• Own the design of thrust vector control systems and related structural components
• Translate customer requirements into manufacturable designs that meet performance and cost targets
• Execute design trades across various architectures, materials, and manufacturing processes
• Plan and support test campaigns from component-level through full-scale static-fire demonstrations
• Provide hands-on support for prototype assembly and troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues
• Generate CAD models and engineering drawings according to industry standards

What you'll bring

• Bachelors degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering
• Minimum of 5 years experience with thrust vector control or flight-control systems
• Proficiency with CAD software and engineering analysis tools like FEA
• Strong knowledge of structural mechanics, dynamics, and actuation systems
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance
