Design Engineer at Glean

Role Overview

Glean is seeking a Design Engineer to sit at the intersection of product design and frontend engineering to own the craft and polish of the user experience. You will build an AI-forward design system that encodes design language into rules and components for both human engineers and AI coding agents.

Key Responsibilities

• Build polished product experiences across web, desktop, and mobile applications
• Evolve the design system including components, tokens, and usage documentation
• Author rules and guidelines to make the design system ready for AI coding agents
• Develop product design skills for agents to ensure high-quality UI output at scale
• Set the bar for frontend craft through prototypes and hands-on collaboration
• Rapidly prototype interaction and motion concepts to resolve design questions in code

Requirements Snapshot

• Five or more years of experience spanning product design and frontend engineering
• Expertise in TypeScript, React, CSS, and interaction design
• Experience building or maintaining design systems at scale
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development and coding agent workflows
• A portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual and interaction craft
