Senior Design Engineer, Design System at Celonis

The role

Celonis is seeking a senior Design Engineer to lead the evolution of their enterprise-grade design system at the intersection of design and engineering. You will build scalable components and architecture that support both human users and AI coding agents within a complex process intelligence platform.

What you'll do

• Design and build production-ready components using Angular and TypeScript.
• Own end-to-end interaction decisions and front-end architecture for the design system.
• Translate complex process data and AI behaviors into intuitive user experiences.
• Maintain design tokens-as-code and structure metadata for AI agent consumption.
• Author Figma Code Connect mappings to link design components with code.
• Implement automated accessibility and visual regression checks within CI pipelines.

What you'll bring

• Five to eight years of experience in design engineering or front-end development.
• Strong proficiency in Angular, TypeScript, and modern CSS custom properties.
• Deep understanding of design token architecture and token-as-code pipelines.
• Demonstrated expertise in WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards and implementation.
• Hands-on experience using AI design and coding tools in a professional workflow.

Your impact

You will define the technical and craft standards for front-end quality across the organization, ensuring the design system scales effectively for both engineers and AI agents. By bridging the gap between design and code, you will enable the delivery of high-performance, accessible, and consistent user interfaces that unlock global productivity through process intelligence.
