Frontend Engineer, Design Systems at Stripe

The role

Stripe is seeking a Design Systems Engineer to join the Web Presence and Platform team to build and steward Helm, the design system powering stripe.com. You will translate visual direction into reusable, production-ready React components that ensure consistency and quality across Stripe's global web presence.

What you'll do

• Design and build polished, accessible, and performant React components for stripe.com.
• Partner with designers and engineers to shape component behavior and design-token architecture.
• Maintain high design-code parity through documentation and visual-regression testing.
• Guide teams on when to extend the design system versus keeping implementations local.
• Lead the upstreaming of broadly reusable work into the core design system.
• Improve system discovery and adoption through clear guidance and responsive collaboration.

What you'll bring

• Five or more years of experience in frontend or design engineering.
• Proven track record of building and maintaining production design systems.
• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS for responsive web experiences.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to maintain high-quality code.
• Ability to design flexible component APIs and maintainable composition models.
