Founding Product Designer, Hazel AI at Altruist

Role Overview

As the first Founding Product Designer for Hazel, you will lead end-to-end design for an AI-native wealth management engine. You will partner closely with Product and Engineering to re-imagine complex financial workflows and shape the future of advisor-client interactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end agentic workflows for administrative tasks and specialized financial planning agents.
• Create new interaction patterns for AI-assisted work that balance automation with human control.
• Define communication patterns for how AI agents signal progress, uncertainty, and handoffs.
• Maintain and evolve the Ethos design system to ensure consistent interaction patterns.
• Collaborate on product strategy to determine feature scope, discovery needs, and sequencing.
• Iterate rapidly on designs based on evolving AI model capabilities and user feedback.

Requirements Snapshot

• Five or more years of experience designing complex multi-step workflows and shipping real products.
• Strong fundamentals in interaction design, UX writing, and visual hierarchy.
• Ability to navigate ambiguous problem spaces with rapidly changing technical constraints.
