Job Description

WHO WE ARE:
Aviatrix® is pioneering the Cloud Native Security Fabric — the architecture the Containment Era requires. The Cloud Native Security Fabric governs every workload communication path across every cloud, every VPC, every Kubernetes cluster, and every serverless function, from a single policy plane. One rule. Universal propagation. Enforced at the workload, not at a chokepoint. Trusted by more than 500 of the world's leading enterprises. For more information, visit aviatrix.ai

About the role:

As a Principal UX Designer, you'll be one of the most senior individual contributors on a team of creatives who raise the bar on end-to-end experiences across Aviatrix's product portfolio. At Aviatrix, we believe Design takes our vision of Intelligent Cloud Networking™ and translates it into simple yet powerful tools and experiences that enrich the lives of our customers.

You lead a significant, high-impact product area end-to-end, set the standard for design craft on the team, and are a go-to resource other designers look to for guidance. You understand the business broadly, proactively surface opportunities beyond your own area, and mentor others to raise the quality of work across the team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead design execution end-to-end for a significant, high-impact product area, breaking down and driving complex, loosely-defined projects to completion
  • Deeply understand the tooling industry and landscape, and apply that knowledge to keep projects aligned with real customer workflows
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguity, and build consensus on direction
  • Define and own UX models and experience transitions for your product area, including how it connects to adjacent experiences
  • Spot the need for new design system patterns and components, and champion their creation and documentation
  • Plan, execute, and independently analyze research studies, working with stakeholders to define research goals
  • Mentor other designers and provide clear, actionable feedback during critiques; actively participate in hiring
  • Proactively identify opportunities and risks across the business, not just within your immediate area of focus

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience in product design or UX, with an advanced degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Demonstrated ownership of one or more significant product areas end-to-end, including defining their goals and purpose
  • Deep fluency with an industry-standard design tool and the ability to define new design patterns and components at the right level
  • Experience independently planning, executing, and synthesizing formative and evaluative research, including defining research goals together with stakeholders
  • A portfolio demonstrating complex, ambiguous projects taken from loose definition through to shipped, high-quality execution
  • Proven ability to build consensus among peers and stakeholders on product direction using both qualitative and quantitative reasoning

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing enterprise, B2B, or highly technical products (e.g. cloud networking, security, infrastructure)
  • A track record of mentoring designers and improving quality outside your own focus area
  • Comfort filling gaps in product requirements independently and surfacing trade-offs without heavy direction
  • Contribution to a design system's roadmap, documentation, or evangelism
  • Occasional contribution to patent portfolios, internal innovation, or the external design community (talks, conferences, publications)
  • Experience embedding AI into the design process and day-to-day design operations — using AI tools to accelerate research synthesis, prototyping, and documentation, and helping the team adopt new AI-assisted workflows
