Quick Summary

Role Overview

As the Staff Product Manager for DFM, you will lead the strategy and roadmap for automating manufacturability reviews through AI across global markets. This technical role sits at the intersection of manufacturing expertise, workflow design, and applied machine learning to scale Xometry digital marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define a multi-year roadmap for global manufacturability review automation
  • Lead the development of the Intelligent DFM Workbench as a single source of truth
  • Partner with data science teams to improve 3D geometry analysis and ML models
  • Establish feedback loops to improve record accuracy through human-in-the-loop workflows
  • Track and optimize key performance metrics like handle time and sign-off latency
  • Coordinate cross-functionally between engineering and manufacturing teams to drive ROI

Requirements Snapshot

  • Eight or more years of product management experience in technical or AI-powered products
  • Proven experience managing complex systems of record and human-in-the-loop workflows
  • Expertise in designing policy-driven workflows such as approval routing and escalation logic
  • Strong background in data-driven prioritization and measuring impact on cycle time
  • Bachelor degree in engineering or computer science or a related business field

Expected Impact

You will transform the manufacturing lifecycle by scaling AI-driven manufacturability reviews globally to significantly reduce latency and improve production quality. By establishing a unified workbench and robust ML feedback loops, you will bridge the gap between digital quotes and physical production while directly influencing operational efficiency.

Job Description

Xometry (NASDAQ: XMTR) powers the industries of today and tomorrow by connecting the people with big ideas to the manufacturers who can bring them to life. Xometry’s digital marketplace gives manufacturers the critical resources they need to grow their business while also making it easy for buyers at Fortune 1000 companies to tap into global manufacturing capacity.

Every custom part Xometry quotes has to be checked for manufacturability before it can become a job, i.e. Design for Manufacturing (DFM). As Staff Product Manager for DFM, you will own the strategy and roadmap for how Xometry defines, automates, and scales manufacturability review through AI across all geographies. This is a technical, cross-functional, high-ownership role at the intersection of manufacturing domain expertise, workflow design, and applied AI/ML — a critical component of our overall strategy.

How You’ll Contribute:

  • Vision & strategy: Define and drive a multi-year roadmap for DFM across Xometry — one global workbench enabling both staff and AI reviewers to accelerate the quality and speed of our custom parts production lifecycle. The near-term roadmap starts with foundational work — assigning and routing orders to the right DFM engineer — before scaling into the AI-driven workbench
  • Own the Intelligent DFM Workbench: Lead the product that houses the single structured record of what each order requires to be built correctly — the source of truth read and edited by internal Staff, and viewed by Buyers and Partners through role-specific views
  • Partner with data science and ML engineering: Work with data science and engineering to improve manufacturability models — 3D geometry analysis, and evaluation of Visual/3D Language Models for part understanding — and to build the champion/challenger and golden-dataset feedback loop that improves record accuracy over time from every workbench review
  • Drive measurable outcomes: Define and track the metrics that matter — DFM handle time, sign-off latency, the gap between what's promised on paper and what's actually captured before a job starts, RMA rate, and regional rework — and use them to prioritize the roadmap
  • Lead cross-functionally: Act as the hub between Engineering, Data Science, UX, Sourcing, Pricing, Order Systems, Quality, and DFM engineers/case managers, and present strategy, trade-offs, and ROI to executive leadership

What You'll Bring to Xometry:

  • 8+ years of product management experience, including leading AI/ML-powered or technical products in a B2B, marketplace, or manufacturing/engineering environment
  • Experience owning a system of record or complex data contract (e.g., a shared record consumed by multiple downstream systems and roles) and the human-in-the-loop workflows built around it
  • Experience designing policy-driven workflows (e.g., approval routing, tiered sign-off, escalation logic) rather than single-user tools
  • Comfort operating across regions and stakeholder groups to hold a single global design standard, despite real pressure to add customizations
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill technical and operational complexity into a clear narrative for engineers and executives alike
  • Rigorous, data-driven approach to prioritization, experimentation, and measuring impact on cycle time, quality, and customer/partner satisfaction
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and DFM principles (CNC machining, sheet metal, additive manufacturing, injection molding) is a strong plus; comfort getting deep into geometry-based feasibility rules is required
  • Track record partnering closely with data science and ML engineering teams to ship models into production — computer vision, 3D/geometric analysis, or applied LLM/VLM experience is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS) a plus

The estimated base salary range for new hires into this role is $180,000–$207,000 annually + bonus, depending on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and location. We also offer a competitive benefits package, including 401(k) match, medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability insurance; generous paid time off including vacation, sick leave, floating and fixed holidays, maternity and bonding leave; an EAP; and other wellbeing resources.
