Senior Facade Designer

Job Description

We are seeking Senior Facade Designer as a key member of the Facade Design team responsible for delivering high-quality facade design solutions, technical documentation, and project coordination across a range of building projects. The role requires expertise in façade systems, detailing, drafting, fabrication documentation, design coordination, and stakeholder management.

The successful candidate will lead façade documentation activities, support project delivery, ensure compliance with quality standards, mentor junior team members, and collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver innovative and buildable façade solutions.

Facade Design & Documentation

• Develop detailed façade system designs based on architectural concepts and sketches.
• Prepare façade tender packages, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and construction documentation.
• Produce high-quality 2D drafting using AutoCAD for facade and curtain wall projects.
• Create 3D models and design details using AutoCAD, Rhino, SolidWorks, and SketchUp Pro.
• Interpret architectural and engineering requirements into fabrication-level detailed drawings and technical instructions.
• Prepare façade technical specifications, material schedules, and Bill of Quantities (BOQs).
• Develop budgetary costing and quantity assessments for facade design proposals.
• Assist project teams with technical drawings, CAD illustrations, and presentation materials.

Project Coordination & Management

• Manage and coordinate facade design deliverables to meet project schedules and budgets.
• Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve design-related issues.
• Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, fabricators, and suppliers throughout project delivery.
• Ensure efficient and profitable completion of assigned projects while maintaining high technical standards.
• Understand project cost planning and contribute to budget management.
• Support management in preparing fee proposals, bids, and business development initiatives.
• Allocate resources effectively to achieve project objectives without cost overruns.

Design Review & Technical Leadership

• Review and evaluate design deliverables for constructability, compliance, functionality, and technical accuracy.
• Review contractor shop drawings, fabrication details, and technical submissions.
• Ensure adherence to company CAD standards, drawing protocols, and document control procedures.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and revision records.
• Support design workshops and technical review meetings with clients, architects, and contractors.
• Provide technical guidance and design support across regional and global project teams.

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Communicate effectively with clients to understand project requirements and expectations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Participate in client meetings, design coordination workshops, and technical presentations.
• Deliver innovative, practical, and client-focused facade solutions.
• Contribute to client satisfaction and repeat business opportunities.

Quality Management & Compliance

• Ensure all drawings and technical documentation comply with project requirements, design codes, standards, and company procedures.
• Implement and support Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to design quality and documentation.
• Escalate technical issues requiring specialist support to project leadership.
• Maintain compliance with company quality assurance standards and best practices.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Stay updated with industry developments, facade technologies, materials, and software advancements.
• Contribute to the development of design standards, tools, templates, and best practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency and technical delivery.
• Promote innovation and digital design initiatives within the business.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including:

Mentoring & Professional Development

• Mentor and support the development of junior designers and technicians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 6-12 years of relevant experience in façade design, building envelope engineering, architectural detailing, and construction documentation.
• Proven experience delivering façade projects across commercial, residential, hospitality, mixed-use, aviation, healthcare, or large-scale infrastructure developments.
• Experience managing façade documentation from concept design through tender, shop drawing review, fabrication, and construction stages.
• Experience coordinating with architects, façade consultants, contractors, fabricators, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory).
• Knowledge of Revit/BIM tools is preferred.
