Staff Design Engineer at Mixpanel

The role

As a Staff Design Engineer at Mixpanel, you will lead the transformation of the design system into infrastructure that powers design and engineering in an AI-native world. You will sit within the design organization to encode craft and standards into the tools used by designers, engineers, and AI agents.

What you'll do

• Build a token system and component library optimized for AI-assisted workflows
• Collaborate on reimagining Mixpanel interfaces for conversational and agentic experiences
• Maintain the bridge between design and code by shipping production-ready PRs
• Develop infrastructure that allows designers and PMs to prototype at high fidelity
• Identify and close gaps in the handoff process using AI-powered workflows
• Establish and model high standards for craft and interaction quality across the organization

What you'll bring

• Eight or more years of experience in design engineering or related hybrid roles
• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, Next.js, and modern front-end technologies
• Proven track record of building or overhauling design systems at scale
• Fluency in AI-assisted workflows including canvas-to-code and AI prototyping tools
• Strong design sensibility with a focus on craft, consistency, and taste
