About NineTwoThree Studio

If you're looking to work on cutting-edge AI products, solve challenging problems, and be part of a fast-moving, high-talent team, you'll love it here.

Join NineTwoThree AI Studio, a remote-first product design, engineering, and marketing studio, founded in 2012 and based in Boston. We build AI-powered web and mobile apps for big brands and fast-moving startups.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer to join our design team. In this role, you will create intuitive, user-centered, and efficient-to-build experiences for AI-driven platforms, mobile apps, and web applications. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop solutions that balance user needs and business goals. You will also get to design for products across all sorts of industries and platforms, making this an exciting place to exercise your design muscles. Most of what we build is internal and enterprise tooling, so we optimize for clarity, speed, and reduced engineering effort, not visual novelty.

This role requires a high level of creativity, collaboration, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate has a strong background in UI/UX design, an obsession with systematizing and speeding up the whole team's work, and a passion for usable interfaces that engineers can ship quickly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design process, for client projects and the NineTwoThree brand, from concept to developer-ready handoff.
  • Work inside our existing component system (Chakra UI and its Figma UI Kit): reuse and extend it, customizing per client with minimal divergence and minimal engineering rework, instead of reinventing components
  • Produce wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI in Figma to communicate solutions and test hypotheses.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and usability testing to validate decisions, favoring familiar, proven patterns over trends.
  • Treat developer implementation cost as a first-class design constraint: prefer the solution that ships fastest from our component library over the one that looks the most novel.
  • Innovate in information architecture and layout: decide what to surface, what to hide, and where things live, so the main workspace gets the screen space rather than endless menus, filters, and navigation.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate complex requirements into usable designs, and defend your decisions with user needs and business goals.
  • Speed up the design process with AI tools, and help raise the team's craft and design culture.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a UI/UX Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing knowledge of UX principles, user flows, and designing data-dense internal tools, admin panels, dashboards, or B2B/enterprise applications (not only consumer or brand work).
  • Experience working in structured, fast-paced environments with clear processes, tight deadlines, and asynchronous collaboration across departments, comfortable managing multiple projects at once.
  • Experience working as part of a multi-designer team, contributing to shared systems and giving/receiving design feedback.
  • Proven ability to design within an established component library (Chakra UI, MUI, Ant Design, or similar), with a working sense of how design choices translate into front-end (React/Chakra) implementation effort.
  • Proficiency in Figma, including team libraries, auto layout, component properties, and prototyping.
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and usability best practices.
  • Knowledge and experience with Google Material and Apple Design Guidelines.
  • Strong fundamentals in layout, grids, information hierarchy, and responsive/interactive design.
  • Excellent written and spoken English (Upper-Intermediate or higher) for remote collaboration.
  • Experience designing for AI-driven web and mobile applications.
  • Attention to detail and a strong sense of usability and information hierarchy.

Will be an advantage:

  • Proven experience designing complex, data-intensive platforms and interfaces.
  • Familiarity with React or front-end fundamentals.
  • Experience shipping internal tools or enterprise software

You’ll Thrive If You:

  • Enjoy designing non-trivial web apps
  • Like to be challenged and learn fast
  • Can work independently through the full design cycle
  • Communicate clearly in writing and through presentations
  • Get genuine satisfaction from cutting engineering implementation time
  • See a design system as a constraint to master, not a canvas to reinvent
  • Love turning cluttered screens into clear, focused workspaces

You Might Struggle If You:

  • Take weeks to deliver results
  • Are not used to feedback from Product Managers, Engineers and QAs
  • Rely solely on visual aesthetics or general design trends
  • Prefer not to take ownership and show initiative
  • Want to build a bespoke design system for every project
  • Measure your work mainly by visual wow-factor
  • Need greenfield creative freedom and dislike reusing existing components
  • 100% remote job – work from anywhere.
  • Annual paid vacation – 20 working days per year, increasing to 25 days after three years.
  • Paid sick leave and holidays.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Well-being budget to support your personal growth.
  • Maternity/Paternity leave.
  • Reimbursement of professional development courses/certifications (up to 100% with managerial approval).
  • Hardware provided based on business needs.
  • A strong, positive engineering culture with a tightly-knit, collaborative team that values quality and creativity.
