Job Description

About the Role

Bitwarden is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join the Secrets Manager team. Secrets Manager is Bitwarden’s developer-focused secrets management platform—used by DevOps and engineering teams worldwide to securely store, share, manage, and automate infrastructure secrets such as API keys, database passwords, SSH keys, TLS certificates, and service credentials.

This role is primarily for someone who excels at designing technical, workflow-driven products for developer audiences. The core design surfaces are the Secrets Manager web app and CLI, including secrets creation and management flows, machine account access controls, project organization, audit logs, and CI/CD pipeline integrations. The core design challenge is making complex infrastructure security workflows feel clear and efficient for engineers who expect precision and speed.

What You Will Do

  • Own end-to-end design for the Secrets Manager product: secrets creation and management flows, machine account and service account access controls, project organization, audit logs, CI/CD pipeline integrations, and the developer-facing web app experience.
  • Analyze product feedback from DevOps and developer users, track market trends in secrets management and infrastructure security, and generate, test, and iterate on design concepts for new and existing experiences.
  • Create user flows, prototypes, and production-ready designs for developer execution.
  • Design and prototype developer-centric solutions that work across the Secrets Manager web app and CLI surfaces.
  • Conduct and moderate customer and user feedback sessions, surveys, and usability engagements with technical audiences.
  • Collaborate and facilitate critique sessions with Product Managers for a diverse stakeholder audience.
  • Partner with roles and teams across the company to identify opportunities for continuous UX improvement across the Secrets Manager surface.
  • Contribute to and evolve the Bitwarden design system as the Secrets Manager product grows.

WHAT YOU BRING TO BITWARDEN

  • 5+ years of experience in product design or equivalent experience
  • Ability to communicate designs through sketches, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and prototypes
  • Expertise in Figma, Claude, Chat GPT, V0, Adobe XD, GitHub, or other design and dev tools (we primarily use Figma paired with other generative tools)
  • Experience in planning and executing comprehensive user research and testing cycles
  • Familiarity with prompt writing for AI tools
  • Technical design expertise: knowledgeable of front-end engineering practices, designing systems, and applying systems thinking
  • Collaborative and adaptable mindset
  • Demonstrated experience in influencing leadership regarding design direction by using data and user feedback to justify decisions
  • Openness and authenticity, paired with strong communication skills
  • Excitement and enthusiasm for open source and better internet security
  • An online portfolio or examples of work showcasing a variety of artifacts created in developing UX solutions.
