Job Description

🧡 About Alma

At Alma, we believe sustainable commerce depends on fair, well‑balanced trade. Because finance plays a pivotal role in business, our mission is to put it back in its rightful place - serving merchants and consumers.

Our installment and deferred payment solutions help merchants boost sales by 20% or more, increase customer loyalty, and deliver a seamless shopping experience - without encouraging bad debt.

As the buy now pay later leader in France and active in 10 European countries, we've empowered over +25,000 merchants and 10 million consumers.

With 380+ Almakers and €100M+ ARR, Alma is scaling rapidly across Europe as a member of the Next40, and we're just getting started!

👐 About The Team

Product & Engineering at Alma is organized in tribes. You will join the Core Tribe and work with 3 squads. It powers Alma's financial and payment infrastructure: how payments are collected, how credit decisions are made, and how money flows between consumers, merchants and Alma. Core Tribe is around 25 people across three squads, Payment Lifecycle, Risk Management and Core Finance, and it is where our European expansion becomes real.

You will report to Léo, Lead Product Designer, and join a team of 2 experimented Product Designers: Michael covers the Consumer Checkout and the mobile app, and Julie covers the whole Merchant Experience. The Core Tribe doesn’t have a dedicated designer, which is why we are hiring.

This position is a permanent position (CDI) based in Paris.

💼 About The Job

Own the user knowledge of your scope:

Design across internal and external products: :70% internal tooling and :30% B2B/SaaS-facing products, including checkout, risk management, payment methods and Open Banking, with a focus on improving cross-Tribe journeys and driving business impact.Independently run discovery, frame problems, select the right methods, and prioritize pain points based on impact and feasibility.Test and integrate international payment methods to increase checkout flexibility and reduce dependency on the Checkout squad.

Design complete experiences:

Deliver end-to-end flows including edge cases, system states and error recovery, in a domain where the edge case is the daily reality: late payments, partial refunds, failed charges, rejected files.Write your own microcopy, and hold both the regulatory constraint and the usability standard at once.Build on our Design System, and tell us when your scope needs something it does not cover yet.

Own the impact of what you ship:

Define success metrics with the PMs before go-live and follow them after.Bring data to your design arguments, and know what your choices are worth in ops time, risk and margin.

Set the pace with strong tooling and AI:

Use AI where it earns its place: synthesizing research, drafting documentation, getting to a clickable prototype before spending days in Figma, always keep your judgement on the output.

🧰 You will work with

🧩 About You

To succeed in this job

You have a minimum of 5 years of product design experience, and you have designed internal or back-office tools with dense data tables and multi-step workflows. You like complex domains that take weeks to understand. You are autonomous on discovery: you own the user knowledge of your scope, frame the problem, pick the method, run the research, and your findings land while the direction is still open. You design and ship complete flows, edge cases and error states included, and you write your own copy. Engineers can build from your handoff directly. You are comfortable with data: you read your own dashboards, you know which numbers your work should move, and you are at ease with quantitative methods such as survey design and funnel analysis. You are part of the triad with the PM and the EM. You shape scope and trade-offs with them from the start, and you build alignment with user, business and technical arguments. You are fluent in English and French.
