Job Description

As MR MARVIS continues to grow across Europe, our digital experience, product pace and cross-functional needs have grown beyond what our current design setup can reasonably support. This creates an opportunity to shape what UX looks like here.

We’re product-led in our ambition, and we’re still building the habits and standards that make that work consistently as we grow. We’re looking for someone to help establish the ways of working that enable Product, Engineering and Creative teams to build better products together.

About MR MARVISMR MARVIS is an Amsterdam-based menswear brand, dedicated to creating the perfect shorts, trousers and tops. As a Certified B Corporation, we’re proud to be part of a community of companies working together for change, and taking part in collective action to advocate for a shared goal of a global economy that benefits people and the planet. What started in 2016 with three founders has now grown into a team of 300+ people representing 40+ nationalities. Having established a strong online presence across Europe, we’re now growing our international retail network. Today, you’ll find us in cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris and London.

We make slow fashion, with timeless design and craftsmanship at the centre. We are dedicated to doing better every day, creating value for our team, our suppliers, our customers, and everyone who interacts with our business.

Who we are looking forYou bring mature UX craft and the judgement to apply it in a fast-moving business. End-to-end UX/UI design work, discovery habits, and design system practice are already part of how you work.

Confidence as the sole designer. You are comfortable working as the most senior UX Designer, you don’t need a mature UX organization around you to do your best work, you test your thinking openly with colleagues across the business. You enjoy building the foundations as much as designing the experience. You have built a design practice from the ground up or worked as a senior design partner alongside product and engineering before.

Clarity that leads to action. You turn complex user, business, and technical input into clear design decisions. People leave your conversations knowing what matters, what has been decided, and what happens next.Strategic perspective. You think beyond the immediate roadmap. You can see what the UX function needs to become as the company grows and identify the first practical steps to get there.Good judgement. When timelines are compressed and pressure builds, you can protect the quality of the work without blocking progress. You know when to adapt, when to push forward, and what must not be compromised. You use evidence, warmth, and precision to keep the conversation moving.Cross-functional leadership. Product managers, developers, and creative colleagues value working with you because you bring clarity, structure, and confidence to the team.Pragmatic leadership. You bring craft without bureaucracy. You build alignment through evidence and clarity. You know when to coach, when to lead, and when to stay hands-on. Above all, you balance high standards with pragmatism in a fast-moving environment.

What you will do in the first yearLead UX Practice. You will be the sole design voice for the first phase, balancing hands-on design with building the foundations of the UX practice, you will design as well as build. Own UX quality across the storefront experience (product listing, product detail, search, cart) and shape how UX enters the retail app, post-purchase, and operational tools.Build the ways of working that help the rest of the business understand, trust, and benefit from UX. You’ll evolve the design system beyond component primitives into reusable journey patterns, discovery habits that pre-empt engineering rework, and the working standards the team can point to when scope arrives.Coach our UX researcher. You’ll also brief external specialists as capacity flexes, and design the shape of the UX team as the organisation grows.Influence product decisions. Help product, engineering, and leadership make better product decisions by bringing customer insight, evidence, and UX thinking into conversations early. Challenge assumptions while balancing customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints.

What success looks like in 6 monthsStakeholders involve UX earlier, arriving with better-framed problems, because they have learned the value it creates. The developers you work with trust how UX arrives. The design system holds journey-level patterns that other squads can build on. You’ve helped define the next stage of the UX team, and leadership is aligned because you’ve built a clear, evidence-based case.
