Senior / Principal Scientist, Antibody Engineering & Rational Design at Calico

The role

This role bridges the gap between traditional antibody discovery and computational design by acting as a liaison between wet-lab and machine learning teams. You will drive the evolution of the Design-Build-Test-Learn cycle to optimize therapeutic antibody development.

What you'll do

• Act as the primary liaison between wet-lab and machine learning teams
• Generate antibody designs for discovery campaigns using computational tools
• Validate computational predictions through rigorous biological testing
• Organize biological data to refine and retrain internal models
• Manage external CROs for protein production and screening assays
• Develop novel scientific approaches for therapeutic antibody optimization

What you'll bring

• Ph.D. in a relevant biological or computational field
• Minimum five years of post-PhD experience in antibody engineering
• Proficiency in Python and ML tools like AlphaFold or RFDiffusion
• Expertise in rational design for humanization and liability removal
• Commitment to working onsite five days per week
