Job Description

As a Level Designer, you will be responsible for designing, building gameplay locations, scripting, iterating, and optimizing levels/quests in an open-world game. You will work on Open-World systems such as population, encounters, and other mechanics related to building amazing gameplay in an open world for many players.

Your daily tasks:

  • Co-creating and transforming the project vision into a playable environment including: responsibility for implementing and adapting game mechanics to space, such as enemy AI, combat systems, player interactions.
  • Creating and populating elements of Open-World gameplay - like encounters, open world activities, population, ai life, etc.
  • Close cooperation with specialists from various fields - art, programming, design, audio, animation, etc.
  • Testing your levels for bugs, gameplay issues, and the overall player experience. Collect feedback from other team members and players, and also apply this information to improve your levels and gameplay.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation related to your own levels and gameplay.

Qualifications

  • Passion for making games.
  • Experience in game creation (at least 3 years of experience or one published AAA project) as a Level Designer.
  • Ability to design and create a game environment that is engaging and understandable to the player, provides diverse gameplay, and is attractive and aesthetically credible.
  • Good knowledge of any editor, whether it's Unity, Unreal, RedKit, Cryengine, RoadHog, or Techland's proprietary DevTools.
  • Understanding of how to solve a problem when you hear that "through indirect player guidance we need to make them end up at point X".
  • A good sense of what will play well and what will be frustrating.
  • Readiness to develop our technology and engine in terms of level design.
  • Willingness to work with other people to achieve a common goal.
  • Willingness to share knowledge, exchange experiences, and think outside the box.
  • Good knowledge of English.

Nice to have:

  • Experience as a Quest Designer will be a strong advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of architecture.
  • Artistic skills (drawing, painting, modeling, etc.).
