As a Junior Retail Designer, you support the design and planning of retail spaces for H&M by contributing to architectural drawings, design packages, and project documentation. You work closely with Senior and Retail Designers to learn best practices, develop your technical skills, and help bring our brand identity and retail concepts to life in store projects. Your role focuses on growing your capabilities while actively supporting the team in delivering high‑quality design solutions.​

Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities*

  • Support the development of architectural drawings that bring H&M’s design and interior concepts including brand DNA, identity, and commercial objectives into our stores.​

  • Assist in creating and reviewing architectural and interior design packages, as well as construction documents, under guidance from more senior designers.​

  • Help develop improvements to retail concepts, design guidelines, and work processes together with relevant stakeholders.​

  • Prepare clear and professional visual materials such as plans, sections, 3D models, and visualizations.​

  • Maintain structured and organized documentation to ensure smooth handovers to internal and external partners.​

  • Support project follow‑up activities, gathering learnings and identifying insights together with the project team.​

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, consultants, and other H&M Group teams to ensure smooth project coordination.​

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to help identify the best solution for each space and integrate feedback into design updates.​

  • Learn from and work alongside Senior and Retail Designers, seeking guidance and continuously developing your design, technical, and project skills.​

Qualifications

 

  • Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.​

  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD Architecture, and other CAD software for 2D/3D design.​

  • Min. 1-3 years of experience in retail architecture or interior design, with a focus on commercial space planning. ​

  • International experience is a plus. ​

  • Basic understanding of retail project stages and eagerness to learn more.​

  • Ability to support multiple projects with guidance.​

  • Proactive mindset with strong teamwork and communication skills.​

  • Growing skills in time management and problem‑solving.​

  • Foundational ability to visualize concepts and use 2D/3D tools, with willingness to develop further.

  • Advanced proficiency in both English and Spanish.
