As a Designer 2 - PRO, you design advanced comprehensive product solutions that are aligned with the Arc’teryx design philosophies, continuously pushing your concepts beyond where the industry is today. This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is primarily expected to be performed onsite.

If you were in the Designer 2 - PRO role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

  • Creating and executing assigned product designs within seasonal timelines to complement existing collections, as well as future advanced Research & Development (R&D) projects
  • Contributing to the commercialization of innovative technologies, including materials, pattern/part shaping and construction techniques for existing and new product categories
  • Creating patterns, mockups, and prototypes to explore, resolve, or prove new concepts or construction techniques
  • Providing detailed product initiations to the Product Development team, including spec drawings, pattern and fit direction, and material information
  • Coordinating with the Raw Materials team to test new materials and ensure that necessary items are available for prototyping
  • Supporting the Senior Designer to cultivate feedback relationships with end users
  • Collaborating with the Fit & Pattern Team to resolve fit style and construction issues to ensure a fully commercialized product
  • Developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of the materials and manufacturing techniques that Arc’teryx works with
  • Collaborating closely with other Designers to bring new and better toolbox solutions that benefit the brand (such as new technologies, construction techniques, features, etc.)
  • Staying up to date with industry trends and other industry representatives to help ensure Arc’teryx is exceeding our guests’ evolving needs
  • Assisting with current product design changes where necessary to address in-line production issues
  • Supporting the Design Director in developing a schedule for the flow of the line plan through all development stages, including charting line plan progress
  • Partnering with Development Team Manager to gain visibility into cost estimates, MOQs and LOM concerns throughout concepting and prototyping for seasonal products
  • Presenting at internal meetings, design reviews and seasonal stage gates, annual seasonal handoffs and other product meetings as required
  • Attending tradeshows, company events as well as sourcing and development vendor visits regularly

Are you our next Designer 2 – PRO?

  • You have a Degree in Design, with 4+ years hands-on experience designing technical performance apparel products
  • You have a passionate relationship with and knowledge of outdoor products and technical use cases
  • You understand the end-user needs and you’re able to navigate insights and innovate on feedback
  • You have knowledge in design, patterning, sewing, and taped garment construction, with advanced technical and creative skills to pattern and prototype new products, inclusive of Gore-Tex
  • You have hands-on experience creating tools and construction methods to assist in solving construction issues
  • You are technically proficient with 3+ years’ experience using Adobe Illustrator, 3D platforms and technologies, and CLO3D
  • You are an excellent team player with the ability to take direction and work independently
  • You are entrepreneurial and innovative
  • You have strong planning, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • You are an innovative problem solver with a focus on collaborative teamwork

Compensation

The salary range for this role is CAD$82,000-CAD$103,000.
