Electromagnetic Design Engineer (EMAG)_ M

Job Description

• Responsible for electromagnetic design and optimization of electric traction motors for eDrive/eAxle applications.
• Define motor electromagnetic architecture and key parameters according to customer and system requirements.
• Perform electromagnetic simulations and analyses using CAE tools (e.g., JMAG, Maxwell, Motor-CAD) to evaluate torque, efficiency, power density, NVH, and thermal performance.
• Optimize motor topology, winding concept, rotor/stator design, magnet layout, and electromagnetic performance throughout the development process.
• Conduct trade-off studies considering performance, cost, manufacturability, reliability, and functional safety requirements.
• Support concept development, feasibility studies, and technical risk assessments for new motor technologies.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical design, power electronics, controls, thermal, manufacturing, and validation teams during product development.
• Analyze simulation and test results, identify root causes of performance deviations, and implement design improvements.
• Support customer technical discussions and provide engineering documentation for design reviews and project milestones.
• Ensure compliance with automotive development processes, quality standards, and project requirements.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanics, Motor Design, Electromagnetics, or related engineering disciplines.

Professional Experience

• 3+ years of experience in electric motor electromagnetic design, preferably in automotive traction motor applications.
• Experience in permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM), induction motors (IM), or other electric machine technologies.
• Familiarity with eDrive/eAxle system development is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of electromagnetic theory, electric machine design, and motor operating principles.
• Hands-on experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as JMAG, ANSYS Maxwell, Flux, or equivalent.
• Understanding of motor performance parameters including torque, efficiency, losses, power density, flux weakening, and NVH-related electromagnetic excitations.
• Basic understanding of thermal, mechanical, and manufacturing constraints in motor development.
• Familiarity with automotive product development processes and engineering validation activities.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and cross-functional collaboration capability.
• Ability to work in an international and multidisciplinary engineering environment.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
