Railroad Structures Review/ Design Engineer – Public Projects at Benesch

The role

This position involves joining the Railroad Services group to perform technical design reviews and evaluations of railroad structures. You will work on a variety of bridge and grade separation projects supporting Class I, short line, and commuter railroads.

What you'll do

• Review structural plans and technical submittals for railroad infrastructure projects
• Evaluate engineering designs against applicable railroad standards and project criteria
• Assess construction staging and temporary works for impacts to operations
• Prepare actionable review comments to facilitate the resolution of design deficiencies
• Coordinate with stakeholders to protect railroad property and meet project deadlines
• Perform structural analysis assignments and occasional field inspections with associated reports

What you'll bring

• Bachelor degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with a structural emphasis
• Two to five years of experience in structural engineering or bridge design
• Working knowledge of steel and concrete design and AREMA standards
• Engineer in Training certification preferred or Professional Engineer license desirable
• Ability to perform occasional out of town travel for project needs
