About The Project

We are building a new digital product for small and medium-sized businesses, such as sole traders, tradespeople and local service providers. Many of these businesses still run on a mix of phone calls, messages, paper notes and spreadsheets. Our product brings the customer side of their business together in one place, so they can:

Attract customers: get discovered and manage new enquiries and leadsQuote: create and send clear, professional quotes quickly, often from a phone on siteInvoice and get paid: create invoices, keep track of what is outstanding and follow up on payments

The product will be available as a mobile app and as a web application for PC and Mac, used for admin, reporting and record-keeping. Because the product is at an early stage, you help lay the foundations and shape the experience, from the first concepts all the way to launch.

About The Role

We are looking for a UX/UI Designer who loves turning everyday business tasks into something simple, clear and pleasant to use. You join a cross-functional team with a product manager, frontend and backend developers and a data engineer, and you are the person who makes sure the product makes sense to the people who use it.

As a UX/UI Designer you

understand how business owners really work, and you use that knowledge to design mobile and web experiences that save them time. You combine strong design skills with the ability to explain your choices clearly to developers, product people and stakeholders.

You

Do user research to learn how business owners find customers, quote for work and get paid, and use those insights to guide design decisionsCreate user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes for both mobile and webDesign clear and efficient experiences for admin-heavy tasks, such as managing quotes, invoices and customer recordsDesign trustworthy interactions for important moments, like sending a quote or recording a payment, so users always feel in control of what reaches their customersBuild and maintain a consistent design system that works on both platformsWork closely with the product manager, developers and data engineer to shape the product direction, visuals and experienceMake sure your designs follow brand guidelines and accessibility standardsKeep improving designs based on user feedback and analytics

You have

Experience as a UX/UI or Product Designer, with a portfolio that shows your process as well as the end resultA strong understanding of user-centred design principlesExperience designing for both mobile and webStrong skills in Figma or similar design toolsExperience with user research and usability testingThe ability to explain your design ideas clearly, to technical and non-technical peopleA hands-on mentality: you are comfortable working in an early-stage product where not everything is defined yetAn open mind and curiosity about new tools, including AI tools that can make design work fasterExcellent English, spoken and written

Nice to have

Experience designing data-driven features, such as dashboards, reports or customer recordsExperience with products for small businesses, or with quoting, invoicing or payment flowsExperience setting up a design system from scratchBasic knowledge of HTML and CSS, so you know what is realistic for developers to build
