About The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Designer to join our Product Team at RND Fortis GmbH. In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing our journalistic and regional brands through innovative design solutions tailored for digital platforms. You will work closely with Product Owners, Frontend Developers, and stakeholders to develop user-centric prototypes, visualizations, and UX strategies that improve the usability and competitiveness of our digital products. Your responsibilities will span from strategic development, such as creating design systems and standards, to operational tasks like testing prototypes and conducting user research. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the visual and functional aspects of our digital offerings, ensuring they meet the needs of our diverse audience while aligning with our company's mission and values.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a professional or academic background in Design, Media Design, Software Development, or a related field with a focus on digital design. You should have several years of experience in developing digital products, preferably within the journalism or digital media sectors. Proficiency in design and collaboration tools such as Figma, Jira, Slack, Adobe Creative Suite, and Asana is essential. Experience in organizing and conducting user research projects independently, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, is required. Familiarity with AI-powered tools like Claude, Figma AI, Large Language Models, and agentic systems is highly desirable, along with a passion for experimenting with new processes and technologies. Excellent communication skills in German at C1 level or higher are necessary to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and target audiences.

Responsibilities

Develop and review design concepts, standards, and design systems to ensure consistency across digital products.Create and test prototypes, visualizations, and UX strategies that enhance user experience and product competitiveness.Collaborate with Frontend Developers to design and refine components for the design system, ensuring seamless integration and usability.Conduct user tests, user research, and desk research independently to gather insights and inform design decisions.Present and discuss design proposals and concepts with stakeholders and external partners, managing coordination and feedback processes.Participate actively in product planning, reviews, retrospectives, and refinement sessions to contribute to agile development cycles.Support visual design tasks by creating graphics and visual assets as needed to complement digital products.
