Staff Motion Designer, Design Innovation at Pinterest

The role

This Staff Motion Designer role joins the Design Innovation team to define and evolve the motion design language across Pinterests flagship features. It is a hands-on, horizontal position requiring a blend of motion craft leadership, systems thinking, and technical prototyping.

What you'll do

• Define motion design principles and reusable patterns for the product ecosystem
• Lead motion direction for flagship and AI-forward user experiences
• Partner with product and engineering teams to solve complex interaction problems
• Create scalable design system contributions including motion tokens and documentation
• Build rapid prototypes using design tools and code to validate ideas
• Mentor other designers in motion principles and systems thinking

What you'll bring

• Minimum eight years of experience in motion or product design
• Proven track record of influencing design direction at a staff level
• Deep command of interaction principles like timing and choreography
• Experience building and maintaining scalable motion design systems
• Practical fluency in technical constraints and engineering handoff processes
