About Lakera
We're in uncharted territory. AI technology is being integrated into the systems that run our businesses, infrastructure, and daily lives. Often faster than we can secure them. The question isn't whether AI will transform society, but whether we can make that transformation safe.
Lakera builds the security infrastructure that makes AI adoption possible at scale. Acquired by Check Point in 2025 (named a Best Company to Work for by U.S. News & World Report), we now operate as part of the world's leading cybersecurity company while maintaining our startup agility and focus. Together, we're defining what AI security means, from protecting against adversarial attacks and prompt injection to ensuring AI systems respect privacy and behave as intended.
We work with Fortune 500 companies, cutting-edge startups, and the teams building foundation models. We're also the creators of Gandalf, the AI security game that's been played millions of times and actively shaping how the industry thinks about LLM vulnerabilities.
We move fast and work with intensity. We act as one team but expect everyone to take substantial ownership and accountability. We prioritize transparency at every level and are committed to always raising the bar in everything we do. We promote diversity of thought as we believe that creates the best outcomes.
The Opportunity
We're establishing our design practice in Zurich, and we're looking for a Senior/Staff Product Designer to be the founding designer on the ground. The Zurich office is home to our ML research team. As a designer, you'll sit alongside the researchers, giving you direct access to the technical depth that makes great design possible.
This role offers something rare: the chance to apply first principles thinking to design problems that literally didn't exist two years ago. There's no playbook for designing AI security products. No established patterns for how security teams should investigate an adversarial attack on an LLM. No standard interface for configuring guardrails that need to protect against threats we're still discovering. You’ll be helping to define what AI security products should look and feel like.
The stakes are high. If our products don’t work, companies can't safely deploy AI. When they do, we enable organizations to use transformative technology without compromising security or privacy. You'll have a front-row seat to the AI revolution, not as an observer, but as someone shaping how responsibly it unfolds.
What You'll Do
This role sits at the strategic intersection of product, customer needs, and AI research. You'll work directly with Product Managers, engineers, our ML research team, and our global customer base.
Design novel security interfaces:
Threat detection dashboards that visualize real-time attacks on AI systems: how do you represent thousands of potential attacks and help analysts identify the critical patterns?
Incident response workflows for when an AI system is compromised: what does effective investigation look like when the attack vector is a carefully crafted conversation?
Configuration interfaces for AI guardrails that must be simultaneously powerful, flexible, and error-proof.
Translate complexity into clarity:
Making AI concepts legible to security experts, security architects, and AI developers.
Designing for multiple personas: security architects who live in our product daily, developers integrating it once, and executives who need higher level oversight.
Build the foundation:
Who You Are
4+ years designing products and UX for technical users. Ideally in B2B SaaS, developer tools, cybersecurity, or similarly complex domains.
A portfolio demonstrating your ability to take genuinely complex problems and create elegant, functional solutions.
Expert proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools
Deep understanding of information architecture, interaction design, and visual design, and when to prioritize each.
First principles thinker: When there are no established patterns, you can reason from fundamentals about what users need and how systems should behave.
Rigorous but pragmatic: You balance design excellence with technical constraints and business realities.
Comfortable taking initiative in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. Highly self-directed with a startup mindset.
Strong communicator in English who thrives on cross-functional collaboration.
Always learning: You don't need to be a security expert or ML researcher, but you're genuinely interested in understanding how these systems work.
Valuable but not required:
Experience in security, AI/ML products, or developer tools.
Background in building or scaling design systems.
Prior experience at growth-stage or early-stage companies.
Familiarity with using AI tools in your design process.
Why This Role, Why Now
The Check Point acquisition changes everything. You get the resources, stability, and customer access of a global cybersecurity leader, combined with the focus, speed, and innovation culture of Lakera.
The Zurich advantage. Our Zurich office houses our ML research team, the people building the core detection algorithms and security models. As a designer here, you'll have unprecedented access to the technical depth that makes great security design possible. You'll understand not only what users need, but also how the underlying technology works.
The timing. AI security is transitioning from "emerging concern" to "board-level priority." Every large company is asking how to deploy AI safely. You'll be designing products at the exact moment the market is ready for them, backed by the credibility and distribution of Check Point.
The impact. This isn't about making software slightly better, it's about enabling the safe adoption of transformative technology. The work you do will directly influence how organizations protect privacy, maintain security, and use AI responsibly.
