Job Description

You'll join our Audio Department as a Junior Technical Audio Designer, working alongside our Senior Technical Audio Designer to drive audio implementation and tooling across our projects.

You'll sit between audio designers, technical designers and programmers, transforming creative ideas into systems that hold up under the demands of a multiplayer shooter.

This is a genuine entry-level position. You don't need shipped credits and you don't need to have built an audio system from scratch. You need to know your way around Wwise, be able to write Python, and want to get very good at this.

What you'll do

  • Audio game systems -Contribute to audio-specific game systems for our projects, in close collaboration with the audio designers, technical designers and programmers.
  • Tooling -Build tools that speed up the audio team's workflows using Python, with code review and support from the Senior Technical Audio Designer. You'll pick up WAAPI here.
  • Collaboration - Work closely with the audio team on implementation of SFX, music and dialog.
  • Documentation - Keep technical documentation for our tools and systems current, and write your own as you build.
  • Sustain - Collaborate with our QA team to reproduce and triage audio bugs.
  • Learning - Take an active part in code review and one-to-ones, whilst building up your knowledge of our engine and audio pipeline.

What you'll grow into

We're hiring for where you'll be in two years, not just where you are now. As you find your feet, you'll take over more:

  • Owning audio systems end to end, from design through to maintenance.
  • Building larger pipeline tools in Python and WAAPI that the whole audio team depends on day to day.
  • Acting as a technical point of contact for audio designers — answering their questions and flagging changes that affect their work.
  • Contributing to performance and memory optimization.
  • Working with our engine and game programmers on audio features.

What you bring

  • Experience implementing audio in a game engine.
  • Knowledge of Wwise and the Wwise Authoring Tool. Personal projects, game jams, university work and mods all count.
  • Ability to write Python. Scripts you've written to solve your own problems are exactly the right kind of experience.
  • A portfolio, reel or GitHub showing audio work, tools, or both.
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly to non-technical developers.
  • Strong organization, planning and a positive and constructive attitude.
  • Love and passion for games, sound and music.
  • Willingness to relocate to Frankfurt am Main, Germany
