Jr. Design Release Engineer - Upper Body

Role Overview

This role supports Body-in-White (BIW) design and engineering activities, assisting senior engineers with day-to-day tasks for Upperbody Complete components. The individual will collaborate with various teams, contribute to program milestones, and support cost optimization initiatives. This position is ideal for an eager learner in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support BIW design activities, including CAD modeling and drawing updates.
• Assist senior engineers with day-to-day engineering tasks related to Upperbody Complete components.
• Participate in design reviews and help track actions, issues, and follow-ups.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing and CAE teams to support design updates.
• Support tooling and assembly readiness activities prior to Tool Kick-Off.
• Attend supplier meetings and assist with APQP documentation and technical follow-ups.

Requirements Snapshot

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field is required.
• 0–3 years of experience or internship in automotive BIW engineering, design, or manufacturing is needed.
• Basic knowledge of CAD and PLM tools such as CATIA V5, NX, or Teamcenter is essential.
• A foundational understanding of GD&T and BIW manufacturing processes is expected.
• Strong problem-solving skills and good communication and teamwork abilities are necessary.

Expected Impact

The individual will contribute significantly to the timely completion of program milestones by ensuring assigned deliverables are met. They will also support cost optimization initiatives with suppliers and ensure effective communication of engineering changes, risks, and issues to the project team, thereby aiding in the successful development and release of BIW components.
