Job Description

I'm looking for an experienced UX / Product Designer to help shape the user experience of a large-scale Platform Engineering environment.

The organisation is working to create a more consistent development experience for 800+ engineers across multiple domains. Currently, the platform landscape consists of fragmented internal portals, inconsistent interaction patterns and different approaches to design.

The goal is to bring these experiences together through a coherent design vision, reusable patterns and intuitive tools that make engineers' day-to-day work easier.

You'll join a small, embedded UX team, working closely with a Design Lead, Service Designer, Product Owners and engineering teams to turn research and user insights into practical, high-quality design solutions.

This is a hands-on assignment for someone who enjoys solving complex design challenges, working across multiple products and bringing structure to environments where not everything is already defined.

What will you be doing?Translate user research, journey maps and insights into design concepts and future-state experiences.Design and prototype platform experiences, including developer portals, onboarding flows, service catalogues and dashboards.Establish consistent interaction patterns and reusable UI components across multiple internal products.Create and validate prototypes with engineers and other users, iterating quickly based on feedback.Explore and design interaction patterns for AI agents and emerging technology experiences.Develop visual artefacts, storyboards and experience flows to communicate design concepts and align stakeholders.Work closely with the Design Lead, Service Designer and product teams to shape priorities and direction.Present design rationale and concepts to Senior Product Owners and engineering leads.

What are we looking for?5 years of experience in UX or Product Design, with demonstrable end-to-end design work.Strong interaction and visual design skills, from early sketches through to high-fidelity prototypes.Experience designing complex, data-rich interfaces such as dashboards, admin tools or enterprise applications.Strong systems thinking, with the ability to create consistency across multiple products and user journeys.Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams alongside engineers and Product Owners.Practical experience with design systems, reusable components and interaction patterns.Proficiency in Figma and Miro, with an interest in using AI to support the design process.Fluent English.

Experience with developer tools, internal platforms or B2B/enterprise products would be a strong advantage.

The type of designer who will thriveYou'll be self-driven, pragmatic and comfortable working in ambiguity. You don't need a perfectly defined brief to get started; you can identify opportunities, explore ideas and turn them into tangible solutions.

You understand that good design isn't just about making an interface look better. It's about making complex products easier to understand, creating consistency across an ecosystem and helping users get things done.

You'll also know when to explore a concept and when a practical prototype is enough to move the conversation forward.

Interested?

If you have experience designing complex digital products and enjoy bringing clarity and consistency to technical environments, I'd be keen to hear from you.
