Job Description

CMF Consultant

Paris, France (5 days onsite/week)

Initial 12 month contract (freelance/consultant) + extensions after

40 hours/week

As a CMF Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing the colors, materials, and finishes for our products. You will play a key role in shaping the aesthetic identity of our products by collaborating with design, engineering, and marketing teams to create unique visual and tactile experiences. You will also keep up with trends and innovations in colors, materials, and finishes to ensure our products remain at the cutting edge of design and meet consumer expectations.

Main Responsibilities:• Develop outstanding storytelling to convey and amplify the core design idea, as the ability to craft captivating narratives is essential for delivering value to the final consumer.• Design and develop color palettes, materials, and finishes based on market trends and the company's needs.• Collaborate closely with design, product development, and engineering teams to integrate CMF choices into prototypes and final products.• Conduct research on materials and propose innovations to enhance the quality, durability, and aesthetics of the products.• Oversee the implementation of CMF choices in manufacturing processes and ensure product compliance with CMF specifications.• Perform trend analyses and attend trade shows and conferences to stay up-to-date on developments in colors, materials, and finishes.• Create mood boards, samples, and presentations to communicate CMF concepts to internal and external stakeholders.• Create illustrations of your concepts to communicate your ideas (2D/3D)

Candidate Profile:• Education: Degree in industrial design, product design, materials science, or a related field.• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CMF designer or in a similar role, ideally in a field such as electronics, automotive, fashion…

• Technical Skills:o Strong proficiency in visual design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)o Strong proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 or/and Blendero In-depth knowledge of material properties and treatments.o Good understanding of manufacturing processes and the technical feasibility of materials and finishes.

• Personal Skills:o Fluent English or/and Frencho Artistic sensitivity and strong attention to detail.o Good communication skills to present concepts and justify CMF choices to teams.o Ability to work independently and in a team within a dynamic environment.o Interest in trends and design research related to colors and materials.
