Original Job Description

About Glean:

Founded in 2019, Glean is an innovative AI-powered knowledge management platform designed to help organizations quickly find, organize, and share information across their teams. By integrating seamlessly with tools like Google Drive, Slack, and Microsoft Teams, Glean ensures employees can access the right knowledge at the right time, boosting productivity and collaboration. The company’s cutting-edge AI technology simplifies knowledge discovery, making it faster and more efficient for teams to leverage their collective intelligence.

Glean was born from Founder & CEO Arvind Jain’s deep understanding of the challenges employees face in finding and understanding information at work. Seeing firsthand how fragmented knowledge and sprawling SaaS tools made it difficult to stay productive, he set out to build a better way - an AI-powered enterprise search platform that helps people quickly and intuitively access the information they need. Since then, Glean has evolved into the leading Work AI platform, combining enterprise-grade search, an AI assistant, and powerful application- and agent-building capabilities to fundamentally redefine how employees work.

About the Role:

Glean is looking for an experienced Product Design Lead to help define the future of our enterprise AI Agents. You’ll collaborate closely with product designers, PMs, engineers, customer success advocates, and marketers, to ship category-defining product that’s used daily by customers to do their work.

You’ll have an outsized impact on the product, used across hundreds of companies across many different industries, and an incredible opportunity to shape the system of intelligence for every company in the world.

You will:

  • Lead and manage a small team of high-performing product designers, guiding them in delivering exceptional design solutions.
  • Own and drive projects throughout the product design lifecycle in collaboration with your team, ensuring alignment with project timelines and objectives.
  • Develop and implement the user experience strategy for Glean's keystone products and features, aligning with and enhancing Glean’s overall product strategy.
  • Demonstrate expertise in end-to-end product development by understanding real customer needs, deriving actionable insights, and creating design solutions that effectively address challenges faced by knowledge workers in organizations.
  • Work flexibly and seamlessly at various levels and future perspectives, creating visionary experience solutions while identifying and executing incremental steps towards achieving those solutions.
  • Oversee the entire product design lifecycle of major features from end to end, conducting user research or partnering with others to gain insights into customer needs and translating those insights into impactful products and features.
  • Produce all necessary artifacts, including specs, sketches, wireframes, mocks, and prototypes, to guide UI ideas from conception to production.
  • Raise the bar for excellence in design craft, from high-level product thinking to detailed prototyping, ensuring high-quality outputs.
  • Exemplify excellence in product design behaviors by:
    • Customizing design processes to suit specific project needs.
    • Providing and receiving constructive feedback to improve outcomes and quality.
    • Collaborating effectively with other product designers and cross-functional team members to ensure cohesiveness and consistency.
    • Innovating and developing solutions within AI-enabled environments.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive team environment, promoting continuous improvement in both team culture and delivery outcomes.
  • Maintain a strong focus on impact by prioritizing business and customer outcomes in all aspects of your work and guiding your team to do the same.

About you:

  • 10+ years prior product design experience in an organization that has shipped software to users, working closely with product, engineering, and product marketing teammates to develop strategy and rationale for features.
  • Strong hands-on leadership and mentorship skills, with 3+ years serving as a people manager for full-time product designers, preferably managing senior teammates.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and mentoring
  • Experience and genuine interest in AI tools. You have experience working with AI in your role, and you are deeply familiar with how AI works.
  • Experience designing for B2B products.
  • Ability to design polished, high-fidelity mockups and detailed interactive prototypes of your solutions in design tools like Figma.
  • Ability to understand technical concepts (bonus if you have working knowledge of code, APIs, databases).
  • Experience collaborating with different disciplines in both product and GTM, and incorporating feedback into your work.
  • Strong written, verbal, and storytelling skills to help people across the company understand the rationale behind your designs.
  • Experience thriving in ambiguity and can independently prioritize work based on user needs and business goals, and take responsibility to drive product ideas forward.
  • Ability to think systematically about problems given tradeoffs and constraints, and go deep on details through continual rapid iteration.
  • A learning and growth mindset with an ability to self-start on problems, a willingness to own problems, and a desire to make things better.
