Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description

What will you be doing? 

We are looking for a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join a high-tech energy team, working on cutting-edge projects in power electronics and energy systems. You will be responsible for designing and specifying electrical components and systems, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and operational requirements. This role will cover the full design lifecycle, from concept and component sizing through to integration and commissioning support.

Your main responsibilities will be: 

• Designing electrical systems and components, including inverters, converters, cables, panels, and control modules.
• Performing component sizing and calculations to ensure robust system performance.
• Supporting the preparation of technical documentation and electrical design specifications.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical designs with overall system architecture.
• Providing guidance on health and safety considerations for electrical equipment.
• Assisting in commissioning activities where required to ensure designs function as intended.

Who are we looking for? 

• Proven experience in electrical engineering with a focus on design.
• Knowledge of electrical systems up to 11kV–33kV is highly desirable.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements for electrical equipment.
• Experience supporting commissioning of electrical systems is advantageous.
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills, able to work across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

Experience, skills and qualifications required: 

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with electrical design and component sizing.
• Proficient in producing and reviewing technical documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members.
